Equinoterapia en pacientes con síndrome de Rett

Abstract

[spa]La siguiente investigación tiene como objetivo principal evaluar y valorar los posibles beneficios de la equinoterapia en pacientes que padecen síndrome de Rett. Se llevó a cabo en un centro hípico que contiene las instalaciones necesarias para poder realizar la intervención. Se trata de un estudio observacional y longitudinal en el que participan distintos profesionales del ámbito de la equinoterapia. A partir de entrevistas a los profesionales y familiares y de registros observacionales, se recopiló información sobre la comunicación verbal, la relación con el entorno (interacciones sociales entre iguales y el animal de terapia), el nivel de concentración y atención hacia un objeto concreto, la movilidad y la estabilidad corporal sobre el caballo. Los resultados, tras 8 semanas de registros reflejaron que, a pesar de observarse diferencias, éstas no fueron significativas en entre el primer día de registro y el último. Sin embargo, a partir de las diferencias observadas a lo largo de las sesiones y de la información obtenida en las entrevistas, podemos concluir que la equinoterapia podría ser un tratamiento eficaz en pacientes con síndrome de Rett. Las posibles limitaciones de este estudio residen, principalmente, en la falta de sujetos con este síndrome y el escaso tiempo disponible para llevar a cabo el registro

[eng]The following investigation has as main objective to evaluate and assess the potential benefits of equine therapy in patients who suffer the Rett syndrome. It was done in an equestrian centre which contains all the necessary facilities to carry out the intervention. This is an observational and longitudinal study in which different professionals of equine therapy are involved. From interviews with professionals and 5 family members, and from observational records, information was compiled in reference to verbal communication, the relationship with the environment (social interactions between equals and the animal used in the therapy), the level of concentration and attention towards an object in particular, the body mobility and stability on the horse. The results, after 8 weeks of observational records, reflected in spite of observed differences, these were not significant between the first and the last day of observation. However, from the differences observed throughout the sessions and from the information obtained during the interviews, we can conclude that the equine therapy could be an effective treatment in patients with Rett syndrome. The possible limitations of this study reside mainly in the lack of subjects with this syndrome and the limited time available to carry out the observational registrations records.
