[eng] In the field of geography of mobility exist two main modeling frameworks: radiation and
gravity. In the last years, there has been an open discussion about the which of these models
produce better results for each type of mobility: from commuting to migration. Here we
introduce a new perspective translating the problem into a field theory formalism. One of
the two models, gravity, fulfils the conditions of having a null rotational (it can be derived
from a potential) and the Gauss theorem holds. Our results show that empirical commuting
data support these features. Furthermore, the analysis of the potential provides a method to
find centers of mobility |
