A new educational proposal: Project-Based Instruction from a transcultural Viewpoint

Abstract

[eng] Due to the huge growth and expansion of English all over the world, there has been an increasing concern about which is the best methodology to teach this language in schools. Project-Based Instruction is considered one of the most suitable approaches in nowadays education, as it allows students to learn the language in an effective way as they develop many skills and abilities. Transculturality is also seen as a key item in students’ both academic and personal development. In this thesis, we will suggest a new didactic proposal based on the incorporation of PBI and transcultural education in English secondary lessons. Through the projects, students will collaborate and telecommute with students from Germany, something that will make learning much more significant.

[cat] A causa de l’enorme creixement i expansió de l’anglès arreu del món, hi ha hagut una gran preocupació per trobar la millor metodologia per ensenyar aquesta llengua a les escoles. Avui en dia, l’aprenentatge per projectes és considerat un dels millors mètodes en el camp de l’educació, ja que aquest permet als alumnes aprendre la llengua d’una manera efectiva, alhora que desenvolupen diferents competències i habilitats. La transculturalitat és també vista com un aspecte clau pel que fa al desenvolupament acadèmic i personal dels alumnes. En aquest treball, suggerirem una nova proposta didàctica basada en la incorporació de l’aprenentatge per projectes i l’educació transcultural a les classes d’anglès de secundària. A través dels projectes, els alumnes col·laboraran i treballaran amb estudiants d’Alemanya, cosa que farà que l’aprenentatge sigui molt més significatiu.
