Las tumbas reales de la Cartuja de Miraflores: estudio de su iconografía

Abstract

[spa] Juan II promovió la Cartuja de Miraflores para que se convirtiese en su panteón familiar. Allí proyectó construir su tumba y la de su segunda esposa Isabel de Portugal y su hijo menor, el Infante Alfonso. El proyecto artístico corrió a cargo de su hija, la reina Isabel de Castilla, que contrató al maestro Gil de Siloé para llevar a cabo los sepulcros de Miraflores. Estas tumbas reales siguen una plástica hispanoflamenca, se ubicaron en unos espacios privilegiados y presentan características iconográficas distintivas; además el sepulcro de los reyes presenta una morfología inédita de estrella. En este trabajo se analiza este proyecto artístico funerario en su globalidad en el que se destaca su extraordinaria riqueza iconográfica y ornamental. Para poner en relieve sus aportaciones se ha procedido a comparar el panteón de Miraflores con otros de su tiempo.

[eng] Juan II promoted the Cartuja of Miraflores so that it became his family pantheon. He planned there to build his tomb and that of his second wife Isabel of Portugal and his youngest son, Infante Alfonso. The artistic project was carried out by his daughter, Queen Isabel of Castilla, who hired the master Gil de Siloé to carry out the graves of Miraflores. These royal tombs follow a Hispano-Flemish plastic, they were located in a privileged spaces and have distinctive iconographic characteristics; in addition the sepulcher of the kings presents an unpublished morphology of star. In this work, this funerary artistic project is analyzed in its totality, highlighting its extraordinary iconographic and ornamental richness. To highlight its contributions, we have proceeded to compare the Miraflores pantheon with others of its time.
