El impacto de la maternidad subrogada en la salud de las mujeres gestantes

[spa] La maternidad subrogada o gestación por sustitución es una técnica de reproducción asistida que permite tener hijos a miles de parejas infértiles en el mundo. Existe una gran controversia sobre su realización debido a los problemas éticos y morales que implica, es por este motivo por lo que en muchos países se prohíbe su práctica como es el caso de España. Sin embargo, en otros países sí está reconocida o existe un vacío legal, por lo que se lleva a cabo no sólo de manera altruista para ayudar a mujeres que desean ser madres, sino también lucrativa donde la mujer gestante recibe una retribución económica a cambio. El objetivo del siguiente trabajo es mostrar cómo impacta la maternidad subrogada en la salud de las mujeres gestantes. Para ello se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de artículos mediante bases de datos como Biblioteca Digital de la UIB, Dialnet, PubMed y Google Académico, con un filtro de límite temporal no superior a cinco años. Los descriptores utilizados para la búsqueda proceden del DeCS y MeSH. Para concluir, hemos podido observar que la maternidad subrogada impacta de forma distinta dependiendo del país donde reside la madre gestante, siendo especialmente vulnerables en los países en vías de desarrollo. Otro punto a tener en cuenta es la diferencia entre la práctica altruista y con fines lucrativos, donde, por una parte las mujeres no son tan estigmatizadas, pero en el caso de que se reciba una compensación esta les sirve para tener una independencia económica.

[eng] Surrogate motherhood or gestational surrogacy is an assisted reproduction technique that enables thousands of infertile couples in the world to have children. There is a great controversy over its execution due to ethical and moral problems involved. This is the reason why many countries prohibit it, as it is the case of Spain. Nevertheless, other countries allow this practise or it exists a legal void. For this reason, surrogacy is not only carried out in an altruistic manner in order to help women to become mothers, but also in a lucrative manner, in which the pregnant women receive a financial compensation in exchange. The aim of this project is to show how surrogate motherhood affects pregnant women’s health. For this purpose, we have carried out a bibliographical review of articles extracted from databases such as Digital Library of UIB, Dialnet, PubMed or Google Scholar with a time limit set to five years. The descriptors used for the search of information come from DeCS and MeSH. To conclude, we could have observed that surrogate motherhood impacts in a distinct manner depending on the country where the pregnant lives; being especially vulnerable in developing countries. Another point to take into account is the difference between the altruistic practice and the lucrative practice. On the one hand, women are not stigmatised but on the other hand, if they receive a financial compensation, they gain economic independence.
