Evolución reciente del sector comercial de Baleares y, en especial, de Palma

Abstract

[spa] En este trabajo estudiaremos la evolución comercial de las Illes Balears. Para ello, contextualizaremos un breve repaso histórico y analizaremos los datos del período 1996 - 2016. Nos centraremos sobre todo en la parte normativa que protege al comercio minorista; la cual, como consecuencia no intencionada, sobreprotege demasiado a dicho sector y acaba actuando como una barrera de entrada que entorpece la eficiencia comercial y económica. Es más, existe evidencia de que la regulación del comercio minorista puede generar efectos significativos sobre variables macroeconómicas como; la inflación, el empleo y la productividad. Analizaremos también, los principales conflictos a los que se enfrenta el sector del comercio en la actualidad y debatiremos la conveniencia o no de su liberalización. Después, expondremos, según nuestra visión, las principales políticas que consideramos se deben seguir y, además, reflexionaremos acerca de posibles soluciones alternativas a abordar. Finalmente, de todo ello, extraeremos las conclusiones más relevantes.

[eng] In this project, we will analyse the commercial evolution of the Balearic Islands. In order to do so, we will perform a brief historical review as well as an analysis of the period consisting between the year 1996 and 2016. We will focus the before mentioned analysis on the normative part that protects the retail trade, which as an unintended consequence, overprotects the previously mentioned sector and in the end, causes an entry barrier that numbs the commercial and economic efficiency. Moreover, there is evidence that the regulation of the retail trade can generate significant effects among the macroeconomic variables such as the inflation, the employment level and the productivity. Furthermore, we will also examine the main conflicts that the trade sector face nowadays and we will discuss the convenience or not of its liberalization. After all the previous points already mentioned, we will show you, following our own vision of the topic, the main politics that should be followed and, moreover, we will also think over the possible alternative solutions that could be taken into action. Finally, we will present the most relevant and accurate conclusions.
