(Jovellanos) y Antoni Maria Alcover Sureda (Antoni M. Alcover).
[eng] It is known that the light is very important for several aspects and the perception of it it’s been
explored in quite a few ways but it’s its remarkable role for biology what this study will be focus on.
Light is the most important zeitgeber, enough to cause a deregulate the circadian system and the
alterations that this entails if there’s a deregulation of the levels of the light. In this study, sensors
measuring light intensity have been hung in the classrooms of the Melchor Gaspar Jovellanos
(Jovellanos) and Antoni Maria Alcover Sureda buildings, as well as Jovellanos' library. Once the data
were obtained, they were analyzed using a Student's t-statistic calculating the differences that could
exist between classrooms, blocks of the same building and between buildings. In general, the results
are favorable exceeding the minimum required by the European regulations in the classrooms and
hovering around the value established by the same regulations in the library. There are some
differences between the period of autumn-winter and spring-summer although the big difference is
between the buildings of new construction compared to those of old construction, such Mateu Orfila
and Guillem Colom. In this comparative study, it is concluded that in general the minimums are met to
ensure a good job and an important improvement due to the new architectonics.
