The academic offer by the universities of Ecuador, must be based on analysis of relevance that solvent social problems, close to the national reality. Relevance is a quality condition that links academia with productive sectors and social sectors. In Ecuador tourism has become a key factor in the strengthening and growth of the economy. This research work evaluates the relevance of the tourism career offeredby the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo Extension North Amazonian in the province of Orellana, for this a study was made in the provincial territory. The population was made up of businessmen, authorities, technicians, tourism professionals and thirdyear high school students from the main schools of the locality. The results reveal that the professionals in tourism are necessary for the development of this activity in the province and therefore the academy within its competence it must contribute with the supply and professional training of human talent that through professional technical knowledge and innovation can incusionar and direct the new destinations of the provincial and zonal tourism development.
