luz. |

[eng] Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a very frequent psychiatric illness, whose
treatment remains a challenge. The treatments with SSRI / IRSNA antidepressants
are very effective, but they can cause an emotional block in some patients, so new
therapeutic options are necessary, vortioxetine (Brintellix®) is one of them. On the
other hand, chronotherapeutic treatments, including bright light therapy, can be
effective as adjuncts to the treatment of depression. Certain main symptoms of major
depression disorder show a circadian rhythmicity in their clinical expression or are
intimately linked to the functioning of the circadian system, such as alterations in the
sleep-wake cycle.
Depressive subjects have detected alterations in the circadian rhythms of body
temperature and various endocrine and metabolic parameters in comparison with
healthy individuals. The anomalies in the circadian rhythms described in the
depressive states, as well as the effectiveness and speed of action of treatments
based on chronobiology, point to the circadian system as an important therapeutic
target in the treatment of depression. The objective of this experimental proposal is to
design an experimental project to characterize the effects of a new multimodal drug,
Brintellix®, to assess its effectiveness when combined with light therapy. |
