[eng] In recent years there have been numerous studies which are related to the development
of task allocation algorithms using multiple robots. The notion of swarmintelligence
plays an important role in this issue due to the flexibility and efficiency by which insects
carry out all of their tasks. This approach allows not only to introduce simplicity to the
design of a robot, but also models a multi-robot task allocation system by means of
several parameters beyond the biological framework (response thresholds). A response
threshold is a value that reflects when a robot starts to perform a task, in fact, the
robot will performe the task if the task-associated stimulus exceeds their threshold. The
concept of response threshold, added to the fact of considering amulti-robot system
when only a (only one) task has to be done, as a process without memory, namely,
not keep in mind the decisions history that have been made by a robot but what it
has done in a previous instant, are the key to model it as a Markov chain (a kind of
stochastic process), main aim and contribution of this project. Moreover, the concept of
model of convergence is included due to an application of Banach Fixed Point Theorem
to a special Markov chain, the concept of model convergence is also included. This
concept is relevant in the field of robotics, specially, because the future behaviour of a
multi-robot systemmay be determined with the particularity that it does not change
after a certain instant. Finally, this project ends with a set of experiments which show a
survey of the convergence of the system depending on certain parameters (response
threshold µ, stimulus s and transition probability q), obtaining as a major result that
the convergence is achieved with a time considerably short and with enough precision,
with an extensive influence of the adopted parameters. Through the conclusions the
task allocation problem with n (n ¸ 1) tasks is discussed, analysis that exceeds the aim
of this project.
