[eng] Social reintegration is one of the main goals of the treatment of drug addicts, entailing a break from their previous life, promoting their autonomy and their full social development. Employment is seen as one of the key elements to achieve this; although, how this person develops according to their itinerary will mark the success or failure of this. The changes in the employment market due to the current economic crisis have altered working conditions. Added to the social rejection of these people, something that is understood more and more these days, as a facilitator of unequal access to employment. Meanwhile, public institutions work without promoting access to mainstream resources, causing divisions within the general population.
Through this work we have tried to meet the common obstacles which drug-dependent people face regarding their employability, based on nine semi-structured interviews through which we are able to understand and distinguish the specific obstacles the addict faces aside from those widely understood by general society, concluding that the current economic crisis, stigmatization and the consequences of drug consumption, together with the inadequate resources, would be the main hinderences that impede their access to employment.
