been widely researched to reduce the pain, but it has not yet been analysed whether new

This present work’s objective is to evaluate the decrease of pain with the use of virtual
reality in pediatric patients. As specific objectives are explained: anxiety reduction, the
impact of new technologies is described in the humanization of health care and the use
of augmented reality as a future line of treatment.
The studies’ search has been carried out in the academic year 2018-2019, the following
metasearch engines and databases have been followed: Ebscohost, BVS, Pubmed,
CINHAL, OVID. In the first phase, 25 of them were selected. Limits used were the last
ten years and languages (English and Spanish). It includes the pediatric population, of
both sexes, which uses a treatment for pain and anxiety that consists of virtual reality.
Evidence has been found that VR is useful to reduce pain and anxiety in the care of
burns, treatments that include the use of needles, oncological treatments, rehabilitation,
surgical process, headache and pruritus. In addition, it is an economical, viable and
effective method, although quality trials are necessary to argue the feasibility of this
non-pharmacological treatment.
