[eng] This paper analyzes the existence of a relationship between monthly tourist arrivals in Mallorca and searches in the Google Trends index for the period of 2015-2019. To make predictions about tourist demand in Mallorca, the study reviews the literature that demonstrates the effectiveness of the Google Trends on predicting demand at different touristic destinations. This study estimates an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model between tourist arrivals in Mallorca and Google Trends index to verify whether the Google Trends index is a good predictor of tourism demand in Mallorca. The results have interesting implications that can be used for decision-making by economic agents who depend directly on tourism demand to obtain benefits.
