apretamiento o frotamiento diurno/nocturno.
[eng] Introduction: bruxism is the habit of clenching or grinding the teeth, generally

the population and its symptoms are multifactorial, which is why it must be treated by a

Objectives: The purpose of the review is to determine which physiotherapy modalities
and strategies improve the quality of the patient in manual therapy, therapeutic exercise
in patients with bruxism, as well as to compare the effects of changes in habits that may
lead to physiotherapeutic treatments in patients with jaw pain.
Methods: a bibliographic search is carried out in the following databases: PubMed,
PEDRo, Scielo applying the limits of the language of Spanish, English; and limiting the
search to the last eight years.
Results: Twelve articles were selected to analyze in depth in which the methods,
evaluation and results of the variables to be analyzed were specified.
Different types of intervention were found manual therapy, therapeutic exercise,
orthopedic aids, Kinesiotape and electrotherapy. All these applied techniques generated
progress in terms of pain and functionality of the jaw; however, the benefits obtained
were sustained for a short period of time.
Conclusions: the procedures included in the systematic review appear efficient for the
treatment of bruxism, although no specific technique has been found that provides
sustained benefits over time. This suggests the need to continue researching the efficacy
and evidence of the different techniques.
