interpretar.
[eng] This Final Degree Project stems from the question “Are works by women
composers played in conservatories?” In these pages there is research drawn from
a survey that confirms that in higher music education centers in Spain there is a
clear lack of gender perspective, in this case regarding the curriculum of the
specialties of classical music performance. There are even students that don’t end
up playing a single piece by a female composer throughout their higher education.
As a response to this problem, we have developed several different positive
actions as a proposal to introduce female composers’ repertoire in conservatories.
Specifically, we will focus on the development of a catalog of works for
percussion so that both students and professionals have access to a good database
to find works composed by women both to play as soloists or as chamber music
groups.
In conclusion, it will be proven that the Equality Law is not being applied in many
cases, or at least in the cultural environment, and that there is still much work to
be done in this regard. We are especially interested in the area of education so that
professionals of the future have a more diverse view of the repertoire they can
perform.
