Conexiones Mallorca - California

Abstract

[spa] El principal objetivo de este Trabajo Final de Grado es la búsqueda de la existencia de relaciones entre la isla de Mallorca y el estado norteamericano de California. Se ha llevado a cabo una investigación a través de la historia y de un análisis detallado, encontrando varios aspectos en común entre ambos destinos: conexiones a través de personajes históricos, conexiones arquitectónicas y conexiones turísticas. Gracias a la figura de fray Junípero Serra encontramos la primera conexión, gracias a su gran labor misionera realizada en California. Esto llevará al mission style, un estilo arquitectónico que nace con la creación de las misiones presididas por Serra. Finalmente, se encuentran relaciones turísticas entre ambos territorios gracias al turismo receptor de Estados Unidos con el objetivo de conocer el pueblo natal del santo Junípero.

[eng] The main objective of this Final Degree Project is the search for the existence of relations between the island of Mallorca and the North American state of California. An investigation through history and a detailed analysis has been carried out, finding several aspects in common between both destinations: connections through historical personalities, architectural connections, and tourist connections. Through the figure of Father Junípero Serra we found the first connection, due to his great missionary work in California. This will lead to the mission style, an architectural style that was born with the creation of the missions headed by Serra. Finally, we find tourist relations between both territories because of inbound tourism from the United States with the purpose of visiting the birthplace of the Saint Junípero.
