[eng] New technological advances influence our lives and, thus, our learning. It is up to us how we use these new tools and whether we take advantage of them or not. For this reason, this paper tries to find out the use of speech recognition for language learning by English students from the Official Language Schools around Murcia (Spain). Two hundred students have answered a questionnaire through which their personal learning environment is observed, if they include speech recognition and their reasons. After that, the information obtained was analyzed both qualitatively, with Atlas.ti, and quantitatively, with SPSS and Excel. From this analysis, it was found that students rarely use speech recognition to promote their oral production in learning English, and that activities related to getting input, it means, to comprehension, are the ones they include the most in their personal learning environment.
