Research Fund (WCRF) y el American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) revisan
[eng] Evidence shows that 30-50% of common cancers could be prevented through diet,
physical activity, and a healthy body weight. The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF)
and the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) continually review the scientific
data on the association between lifestyle factors and cancer risk, and have published
nutritional recommendations for cancer prevention, first in 2007 and then updated in
2018. Currently, there are different versions of a score that reflect compliance with these
recommendations. These scores were built with information collected through different
questionnaires and measures that are normally applied in nutritional epidemiological
studies; however, these questionnaires and measurements need to be validated, are
difficult to administer without properly trained staff, and are lengthy and time
consuming. The NUTRECOR research group, located at IdISBA, set out to develop for
the first time a short and rapid screener or questionnaire to assess compliance with the
2018 recommendations published by the WCRF/AICR on cancer prevention on diet,
alcohol, physical activity and body weight for use in the clinical setting. This project is
divided into four different phases, with the main objective of developing and validating
the screener. The objective of this Master's Thesis was to test the construct validity and
reproducibility of this new screener, applying it to patients participating in the
PREDIMED-Plus trial of the Mallorca node. The evaluation of several items has been
correct, which allows the project to continue.
