L'economia marítima de Menorca durant el primer quart del segle XX

[cat] Aquest treball de fi de grau estudia la composició del sector marítim de Menorca a partir de les dades enregistrades als padrons de població de 1924 dels dos municipis més poblats de l’illa: Maó i Ciutadella. En concret, el treball analitza el percentatge de la població activa dedicada a la pesca i la marineria, en uns anys de renovació tecnològica d’ambdós sectors. Posteriorment, també es posa l’atenció en quina era la situació de les famílies lligades a la mar, quin percentatge dels seus ingressos procedien d’activitats relacionades amb ella, quin era el paper de la dona i, finalment, el grau de transmissió dels oficis marítims a la generació següent.

[eng] This final degree project studies the composition of the maritime sector in Minorca, using the data stored in the enumerator books from the two main municipalities of the island: Maó and Ciudadela. More precisely, we analyze how many inhabitants were dedicated to fishing and seafaring, when both sectors experienced a remarkable technological renovation. In addition, the study inquires which was the situation of the families related to the sea, which proportion of their incomes came from the maritime activities, which was the situation and the participation of women and, finally, how many of the sons followed the steps or their fathers and how many abandoned the sector.
