The aim of this research was to determine the characteristics of the teaching of Geography in Primary Education centers in Spain, stressing the use of local areas as the setting for students' geographical learning, the role played by fieldwork, and the association of all the former with student-centered active learning methodologies. For this purpose, a survey intended for Primary Education teachers in Spain was prepared. The results show a match between those who place emphasis on experience-based geography learning methods, using fieldwork and exploration of the local area, and those who use active teaching methods.
