ἄσπονδον Καὶ Πόλεμον. La guerra dels mercenaris de Cartago (241-238 A.C.): Institucions Polítiquesi protagonistes

Abstract

[cat] La finalitat d’aquest estudi és analitzar els principals elements de La Guerra dels Mercenaris de Cartago. Aquest objectiu s’ha assolit a través de l'anàlisi dels principals actors polítics i històrics que participen en el conflicte. Dit enfrontament es va desenvolupar principalment al Nord d’Àfrica i a l’illa de Sicília entre diferents actors, sent els més importants la pròpia Cartago i tota una sèrie de contingents mercenaris els quals es varen revoltar en contra seva després de la dura Primera Guerra Púnica i els impagaments que va provocar. Aquests esdeveniments van tenir un alt grau de crueltat, sobretot amb els oficials i generals cartaginesos. La majoria dels esdeveniments foren narrats per una sèrie d’autors clàssics, principalment Polibi, el qual a part de relatar el transcurs dels fets també indica quins foren els personatges més rellevants del conflicte, tant polítics com militars. Finalment, dir que el que es pretén és aprofundir el coneixement actual a partir d’obres clàssiques i autors actuals i esbrinar quin paper tingueren certs elements implicats, analitzant la seva estructura o organització i com les seves accions i decisions afecten el desenvolupament dels fets.

[eng] The end goal of this study is to analyze the major elements of The Mercenary War of Carthage, which will be accomplished by analyzing the major actors in the politics and military. Said conflict developed in the North of Africa and the island of Sicily between different entities, being one of them Carthage itself and the other some groups of mercenaries that rebelled against them before the events of the Second Punic War and the poor economic situation that proceeded. The conflict had a very high grade of cruelty and rudeness, especially with the high ranks of the carthaginian army such as generals. Most of these events were described by classics authors such as Polybius, who’s the main source for this conflict and also pointed to the most important personalities of the war, both in a political and a military manner. In conclusion, we pretend to fathom the actual knowledge based on said studies in the classical authors and comprehend which people had a major role and whose actions changed the development of the war.
