Islam y modernidad

Abstract

[esp] En el siglo XIX el mundo árabe y musulmán se vio dominado y no empezó a tomar las riendas de su propio destino hasta el siglo XX. En este período la principal discusión entre los especialistas en la materia ha sido la relación entre estas sociedades y la modernidad (sobre todo tras el 11-S), relación muchas veces rechazada en favor de los intereses del capitalismo globalizado o de la élite árabe para mantener el statu quo. Desde Annahda han surgido diversos movimientos modernizadores y ha habido un auge de los movimientos sociales que, hoy por hoy, tienen como última consecuencia las Primaveras Árabes enfrentadas al integrismo y al neoliberalismo.

[eng] In the XIX century the Arabian and Muslim world was controlled by colonialism and it did not start to take control of its own destiny since the XX century. In this period, the main debate among the specialists of the matter has been the relationship between these societies and modernity (mainly after 11-S), connection that has been many times rejected in favour of globalized capitalist interests or the Arabian elites to maintain the statu quo. From Annahda different modernizing movements have arisen and there has been a growth of social movements that, at present, have as the last consequence the Arab Springs, confronted to the fundamentalism and the neoliberalism.
