[cast] En el contexto del Romanticismo alemán de principios del siglo XIX, el paisaje se convirtió en un nuevo lenguaje de formas visuales que permit i rían al artista y al espectador advertir la presencia de Dios en el mundo natural. Partiendo d e una consideración panteísta, el paisaje se articu ló desde fórmulas de paisaje habitado o deshabitado, en las cuales se perciben desde una simple topografía hasta la observación de la naturaleza desde la escisión. De este modo, parece que nos hallamos ante un paisaje original, que se ha enfrentado a las f ormulas del neoclasicismo y academicismo, a la vez que se acerca a la propia historia desde la espiritualidad y el simbolismo con la finalidad de conseguir la comunión con lo divino.
