[eng] The aim of this end-of-degree project is to situate the people of Selva in the context of new trends in the tourism sector.
In the first two points of the work I have carried out a compilation of the notes that have seemed to me most relevant to the beginnings of tourism in the Balearic Islands and more specifically in Mallorca. How and why coastal areas were massified and the economic repercussions of the emergence of so-called mass tourism in our society.
The second part of the work is centered on the presentation of the village of Selva, its origins, a brushstroke of its cultural heritage and some of its peculiarities, as it is the fact of being formed by five population centers.
With the information gathered searching the archives and talking to the elders of the town, the members of the folk group Aires de Muntanya, which as we will develop in the third point, has been the only element directly related to tourism, and with those who are in front of The establishments dedicated to the tourism of the municipality, we tried to explain why our area was outside the phenomenon and the explanation is that here was a productive and stable industry of manufactured products, up to fifteen years ago.
Finally, we analyze the economic model change that has occurred in the last twenty years, with the recovery of the houses of possession as a starting point to cover the new models of tourism arising from the concept of sustainability, which gives way To a new tourism, more respectful of the environment and based on the three pillars of sustainability
