dc.description.abstract [eng] During the last years, sport tourism has been growing. The idea of being healthy and the desire of escaping from industralisation has led to value more practising sport in natural areas. So, a niche market, that is called “sport tourist” has appeared. At the same time, Majorca has been trying to offer different things from sun and sea to fight against seasonality, that is one of the main challenges of tourism in Majorca, nowadays. So, gastronomy, culture, and sport, seem to be solutions to this, because these ones are offered during the whole year, and not just in high season. Majorca has a combination of features that make possible and attractive sport tourism, its beautiful landscapes, combinating sea and mountain, and the perfect weather, make the island a good place to develop it. There are a lot of sporting events such as IRONMAN, Palma de Mallorca Marathon, Majorca 312 and Ultra Mallorca Serra de Tramuntana that take place in low season and generate a huge economic impact in the island. Then, sport tourism is beneficial for Majorca because these sporting events, generate income, create jobs and a multiplying effect that leads to economic growth ca
