social.
[eng]This Project is focused on a recent and growing field: Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI).
Specifically, actions for children that suffer Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the preschool
Education period.
Through the theoretical research about various and pioneering authors of this field and the
testing of real experiences, it shows the benefits that animals could bring to the children and
the possibilities of carrying out interventions in the schools with them.
Therefore, a project’s design about Dog Assisted Education is introduced. The Project is
called: Give me the paw! It is directed to schools where there are children that suffer ASD.
Finally, is needed to analyze the results of all the researched information and it demonstrates
that animals are an excellent tool to help to the physical, intellectual and emotional
development of people with special needs.
The children that suffer ASD will improve their quality of life. They will learn social abilities,
reduce their duplicated behaviors, improve their verbal and nonverbal communication, reduce
their stress moments and strengthen their social integration; thanks to the AAI.
