dc.description.abstract [eng] This thesis aims to gain a further understanding of whether EFL learners truly benefit from a learning context in which they are constantly in contact with native speakers of English. Parting from surveys carried out on students learning English in such a situation, and based on a vast body of literature spanning various fields, this thesis seeks to establish guidelines to follow in order to optimise the given scenario for native students, EFL learners and teachers alike. The surveys, completed by students of 1st ESO, 4th ESO and 2nd Bachillerato, serve as the canvas on which to paint the proposal that constitutes the aim of this dissertation. There will be a constant emphasis on the need for educators and students alike to put in conscious effort in order to achieve the intended results, whilst attempting to maintain a practical proposal that could be applied in a real-life classroom. ca
