[eng] T. hermanni is a reptile considered of communitarian interest in Europe, because it is a threatened species. The species is distributed in specific places in the Mediterranean region, where fires are a common natural phenomenon. Currently, in the Balearic Islands the interdisciplinary ecology group of the UIB is the main entity that is dedicated to the studies of this species. Following this thematic line, this work aims to study the alterations that have caused a series of fires in a population of tortoise and their habitat in Son Doblons (Petra, Mallorca). To carry out these studies, the different mortality data that caused the fires were compared to know the repercussions they had on the population of T. hermanni. Next, a second comparison was made between the data of the surviving individuals of the last fire (2015) and the current population (2019). In this way it has been observed that the fires have produced a certain aging on the population of tortoise. Finally, a study has been made of the evolution of the vegetation caused by the fires and which is the current distribution of the species according to the type of vegetation. It has been observed that the tortoise shows a certain preference for areas of vegetation in transition that have not reached the last stage of the ecological succession.
