[eng] Sex Education (2019-) offers advantageous number of scenes that promote the
learning of English as a foreign language and knowledge about sexual diversity.
This paper, thus, aims at introducing an innovative approach in an EFL
classroom that seeks to take advantage of this Netflix TV series to learn English
while considering sexual diversity. Moreover, this paper will be pioneer in
creating a didactic proposal using a TV series, specifically Sex Education, which
will enhance students’ motivation on account of its current popularity. Students
will work with the TV series as a starting point and will always tackle aspects
related to the LGBT community. By implementing this proposal, students will
acquire important competences, linguistic ability, and not least, knowledge and
awareness about this minority community. Hence, students will be able to learn
English from a hitherto, unusual input, such as the LGBT digital material.
Consequently, they will be able to detach, unconsciously, from
heteronormativity while dealing with sexual minorities throughout the didactic
proposal.
