[eng] From the beginning of the 21st century to the present day, the world of
professional football has undergone a radical change in terms of business model.
Football has become a global, profitable and extremely competitive industry, on
which more and more people depend for their jobs. However, this rapid evolution
could not be explained without the involvement of audiovisual platforms, which
are responsible for marketing the product around the world; and without them,
fans of the sport would not be able to enjoy the broadcasting of their clubs' or
national teams' matches.
Over the last few years there have been thousands of news reports about
commercial battles, multi-million-dollar contracts and abrupt changes in the
audiovisual business. For this reason, I have decided to carry out a study in this
field, with the aim of clarifying why football today is such a complex business and
how it behaves in a market that moves millions of euros a year all over the world.
In relation to this short introduction, my Final Degree Project will focus on the
analysis of audiovisual rights in Spain, mainly Liga Santander. However, the
situation in the lower categories and in women's football will also be examined,
since they also have an important weight to understand the development of the
industry. Similarly, data from the main European competitions will be used in
order to gather enough information to be able to carry out a complete and
accurate analysis of the similarities and differences of each football competition.
