dc.description.abstract [eng] The following final degree project belongs to the subject “20531 Final Degree Project” within the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism for the 2016-17 academic year. The general topic of this project is a Live Project about consulting for touristic companies, consisting in the analysis of a touristic company and all factors surrounding the company such as the destination and competition to identify any weaknesses or barriers to the company’s success. Posterior to this analysis, conclusions are put together and with these recommendations and proposals of improvement will be assembled. In this Final Degree Project, I have put into practice knowledge acquired from the subjects taught during the last 4 years throughout my Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands and during my 6 month studies abroad in the DHBW University in Ravensburg, Germany. The company chosen for the development of this project has been the Formentor, a Royal Hideaway hotel. I have chosen this company for various reasons. The first reason is because of its history and fame of being the first luxury hotel in Majorca where many celebrities decided to spend their holidays in such an exclusive destination (Blanes ,2012). The second reason I have chosen the Formentor hotel is the current problems it’s facing, according to the hotel’s managers they could potentially lose customers because it’s in need of total reform of its facilities which can’t be performed due to the lack of permits granted by the local authorities. The objective of this project is to analyse the market in which the hotel is positioned, , its competitors and the asset itself to obtain information about the hotel’s weak spots and barriers, identifying any possible opportunities to finally draw up proposals, alternative to a total reform of the hotel, that will return the hotel’s exceptional reputation and lead to an increase in its economic performance. The final proposals and recommendations will be aimed accordingly to the diagnosis of the Formentor, a Royal Hideaway, to improve any weaknesses or risks, improving the hotel’s economic results. ca
