d’aula.
[eng] The number of children in guardianship is high in Spain. Educational system doesn’t consider
any measure foster care measures or any support to this children at the school, reason why they
can become unnoticed during a big part of their school life. Knowing how children in
guardianship live the ordinary school will let us identify their life quality (Schalock & Verdugo,
2003), and it let us establish an empirical foundation about the real experiences of these kids.
For that reason, this study is built on a qualitative methodology, based on several case studies,
with three data collection sources: non-participating observations, unstructured interviews to the
children and semi-structured interviews to the classroom tutor. The sample consisted of two
children of 5 and 7 years old, in early childhood education, which are in foster care and
residential care situations, respectively. The results show us the need to take into account the
educational school methodology to analyze the quality of school life. Moreover we need a
change in the administration that it will guarantee a human support to the children who have
emotional and behavioral gaps.
