Aquestes estructures mentals faciliten a l’alumnat interioritzar conceptes o idees
d’Educació Secundària Obligatòria (ESO) i batxillerat, on els estudiants
[spa] Teaching in the field of experimental science often goes hand in hand with the
learning of models, that is, simplifications of reality used to understand the key
factors that determine how nature behaves. These mental structures make it
easier for students to grasp abstract concepts or ideas that cannot be observed
on our daily basis or in the laboratory. However, the current teaching
methodology induce many misunderstandings that prevent students from
understanding the meaning of "model", what they are representing and their
impact on the construction of knowledge. Therefore, in order to correct these
curricular deficiencies, a paradigm shift is necessary, in which students may learn
science through the construction of their own models and their application to
verify the validity of current scientific theories.
For this reason, this work seeks to make known among students and secondary
school teachers the potential of computational chemistry to promote learning in
the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. Specifically, a didactic proposal is
presented for 4th Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and baccalaureate
courses, in which students would participate in the creation of their own models.
The objective is to achieve a clearer and more precise view of the structure and
behaviour of matter, through the modelling of molecular structures and the
execution of simple calculations to determine the properties of some substances.
In particular, it also seeks to motivate student’s interest in science and to promote
teacher training in the pedagogical use of this discipline.
