[eng] This paper is a reflection about how the use of music and songs can help
students of secondary education to acquire English language and culture.
Firstly, an extensive research on the main literature about this topic has been
conducted. This research involves different types of academic papers that study
the application of music in a foreign language class and present the aspects
that can be improved by using music in the EFL classroom. Thus, some
information about how to choose appropriate songs and music activities in the
foreign language classroom is presented, along with the main benefits of this
use. Additionally, a survey conducted among students of 2nd of ESO of a high
school in Palma de Mallorca was carried out to know the opinions of teenagers
on this topic. Based on this information, some activities involving music have
been created. Their goal is to promote English language learning and foster
interest in cultural aspects and other skills, such as critical thinking or creativity.
