[eng] With the rapid advancement of technology, especially since the release of
ChatGPT in 2022, the educational field has experienced a revolution; many call
it the fourth revolution. Some educators have started to implement artificial
intelligence (AI) technologies into their classrooms, but not all the members of
the educational community feel positive towards its integration. This master’s
thesis aims to describe the advantages —personalized and adaptive learning,
instant feedback, less workload for teachers, increase students’ motivation,
etc.— and drawbacks —cheating, biases, digital divide, among others— of AI in
education, as well as to present a didactic proposal for a 1
st of ESO level based
on materials and assessment tools created with artificial intelligence apps. The
didactic proposal —consisting of pre-task activities, a role-play and a final
product— of this master’s thesis attempts to increase students’ motivation and
engagement, to promote collaborative learning and to improve their
communicative competence. For this reason, some previous research on AI
apps I conducted turned out to be essential in order to find the most adequate
platforms, which meet the above-mentioned didactic proposal’s goals. Aspects
such as ease of use, number of functions offered and quality of the results have
been determinant when deciding which ones to include. This thesis concludes
saying that AI technologies prove to be great assistants for educators. However,
this field is still in its early stages and researchers need to continue investigating
how to implement it in the EFL classroom
