Elaboración de un catálogo identificativo de individuos de Tursiops truncatus en el Canal de las Pitiusas

Abstract

[spa] Los cetáceos, habitantes de gran parte de los océanos del mundo, son cruciales para el correcto desarrollo de los ecosistemas marinos. Sin embargo, en los últimos años las poblaciones de las diferentes especies que forman este grupo han disminuido drásticamente debido a actividades antropogénicas. En este estudio, se realiza un catálogo de foto-identificación para posteriormente analizar el tamaño de la población de T. truncatus presente en el canal de las Pitiusas. Se han descrito mediante foto-identificación un total de 69 individuos diferentes en tres meses de estudio realizados durante dos años distintos, 2009 y 2010. Los avistamientos tuvieron lugar en 12 días en 2009 y 5 días en 2010. Se utiliza el programa Mark siguiendo el modelo de Darroch y se obtiene una estima de la población de 57 individuos con un error estándar de +/- 2,5 individuos.

[eng] Cetaceans, inhabitants of most part of the world’s oceans, are important for the proper development of marine ecosystems. However, recently the populations of different species of this group have declined dramatically due to anthropogenic activities. In this study, a photo-identification cathalog was carried out to analyze the size of the population of T. truncatus of the Pitiusas channel. A total amount of 69 different individuals in three months of study carried out during two different years, 2009 and 2010, were photo-identified. Sightings took place on 12 days in 2009 and 5 days in 2010. The Mark program is used following the Darroch model and an estimated population of 57 individuals with a standard error of +/- 2.5 individuals is obtained.
