El Aprendizaje Visual como herramienta de mejora e innovación en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria

[spa] Actualmente estamos viviendo la era del conocimiento, una de las características de esta es la de compartir la información entre usuarios. Se estima que circulan 100 mil millones de imágenes tan sólo en Facebook, por lo que se puede extrapolar que la imagen es uno de los contenidos preferidos de las personas. ¿Por qué? ¿Es esta preferencia reciente? ¿Qué motivo hay detrás? La razón de esta tendencia es que el humano es un ser visual, la mayoría de la información que recibe el cerebro se traduce en forma de imágenes y estas se procesan mucho más rápido que el texto y son más fáciles de recordar. No es un dato novedoso, ya que los humanos empezamos a dibujar milenios antes que a escribir. Entonces, ¿por qué esta característica del cerebro humano ha quedado marginada en el mundo educativo? Décadas atrás Neil Fleming creó el “VARK Model”, en el que establece los estilos de aprendizaje por orden de preferencia (visual, auditivo, lector y quinestésico). El aprendizaje visual es el más común en el ser humano, sin embargo hasta hace relativamente poco en las instituciones educativas se enseñaba mayoritariamente a través de texto o exposiciones magistrales del profesor. Aunque poco a poco el aprendizaje visual va ganando terreno en la educación, todavía existe la creencia de que este tipo de herramientas son propias de la educación primaria e infantil. Mediante este trabajo pretendo estudiar las características y beneficios de este tipo de aprendizaje, además de establecer diferentes herramientas, recursos y mecanismos que conlleven a una mejora educativa tanto para los docentes como para el alumnado en educación secundaria obligatoria.

[eng] We are currently living in the age of knowledge, one of its main characteristics being the sharing of information between users. Following different estimations 100 billion images circulate just on Facebook, so it can be extrapolated that the image is a favorite content to share. Why? Is this preference new? What is the reason of it? The main reason is that the human being is a visual being. Most of the information received by the brain is translated into Images, that are processed much faster than texts and are easier to remember. This is not a novelty, since humans started to draw millennia before writing. So why this property of the human brain has been marginalized in the educational world? Decades ago Neil Fleming created the “VARK Model”, which establishes learning styles in order of preference (visual, auditory, reader and kinesthetic). Visual learning is the most common in humans, but until some years ago educational institutions were teaching mostly through text or masterclasses. Although slowly visual learning is gaining ground in education, there is still the belief that these tools are characteristic of primary and nursery school. Through this work I intend to study the characteristics and benefits of this type of learning. Besides establishing different tools, resources and mechanisms that lead to educational improvement for both teachers and for students in high schools.
