[eng] Student performance is often affected by a number of factors such as
engagement and classroom atmosphere. In order to optimise student learning
processes, a teacher might need to consider all the variables which determine
the performance of a specific group of students according to their context. This
means taking into account not only their level and previous knowledge, but also
their specific needs and emotions. For this purpose, it is essential to create an
atmosphere of work and trust, a safe environment in which students share a
common purpose and feel comfortable and confident enough to develop their
full potential, which can be referred to as a classroom community. In the present
research, several methods to maintain a favourable learning atmosphere
through the creation of a classroom community will be explored, attempting to
propose a way in which students’ performance can be optimised while also
trying to procure their wellbeing.
