[eng] Currently, due to the global spread of English as a lingua franca, English
Language Teaching has adopted a communicative approach. Language
assessment practices have also changed a lot throught the last century to fulfill
the new social needs, but there is still reluctance to abandon old practices such
as standarized tests. These practices seem to be very rooted in high schools,
specially when grammar is to be concerned. This project looks into the evolution
of assessment practices during the last century and analizes the new
alternatives in assessment that have emerged to make up for old practices.
After that, it offers a didactic proposal for a Majorcan high school whose main
aim is to demonstrate that assessing grammar via new alternatives in
assessment is not only possible but recommendable. The conclusion of the
project is that although new alternatives in assessment are highly demanding
and time consuming to create, they are the best option to assess the learning
process of our students, including grammar.
