El Ponte Sant’Angelo de Roma y su programa simbólico

Abstract

[spa] El presente trabajo estudia la intervención de Gian Lorenzo Bernini en el Ponte Sant’Angelo. Supone el análisis formal y estilístico de las esculturas angélicas. No obstante debido a que gran número de ellas no son realizadas por el escultor, hace necesario examinar el proceso creativo. En particular se analiza la dinámica del artista y su taller, y se observa cual es la relación entre diseño y ejecución. Por otro lado, el Puente cuenta con una variada iconografía basada en las Arma Christi. Su elección viene determinada por un mensaje ideológico. El estudio de este elemento permite identificar el discurso simbólico. Además cabe sumar el análisis de la mística contemporánea y la religiosidad del artista, que fueron determinantes en el programa del proyecto.

[eng] This paper studies Gian Lorenzo Bernini's intervention in the Ponte Sant'Angelo. It supposes the formal and stylistic analysis of the angelic sculptures. Nevertheless, because a great number of sculptures were not realized by the artist, it is necessary to examine the creative process. Especially the dynamics of the artist and his workshop are analysed, and the relation between design and execution can be observed. On the other hand, the Bridge possesses a varied iconography based on the Arma Christi. His choice comes determined by an ideological message. The study of this element makes it possible to identify the symbolic program. In addition it is necessary to add the analysis of the contemporary mysticism and the religiousness of the artist, which were determinant in the program of the project
