Los silencios de Antonio Berni. Arte y política a través del retrato

Abstract

[cat] Antonio Berni fue un artista decisivo en el contexto artístico argentino a partir de la década de los 30. A través del contexto histórico que vivió y de las influencias vanguardistas europeas que recibió al viajar a Madrid y París, estudiaremos su trayectoria artística, centrándonos en una de sus tipologías más prolíferas y menos estudiadas en profundidad, el retrato. Para ello, una selección de las diferentes variantes que realizó nos permite elaborar un discurso alrededor de la introspección presente en todos ellos como muestra de una fuerte crítica política.

[eng] Antonio Berni was a defining artist in the Argentinian artistic context from the 30’s. Through the historical context which he lived and the European avant-garde influences he received from his voyages to Madrid and Paris, his artistic career will be studied, focusing on one of his most prolific and less studied typology, the portrait. In order to do that, a selection of different types of portrait allows a discourse about the introspection found in all of them as an indication of a resilient political critique.
