Remedios Varo i el surrealisme: pervivència i ruptura

[cat] Remedios Varo (1908-1963) va pintar la seva obra entre dos continents, l’europeu i l’americà, en un dels períodes més convulsos de la història i de l’art com és la primera mitat del s. XX. Atreta per l’esperit rupturista i innovador del surrealisme, Varo va incorporar moltes de les tècniques i idees dels surrealistes a la seva pintura, tot i que sense formar part mai del nucli central de teòrics i intel·lectuals, ni a Barcelona, ni a París. Moltes d’aquestes influències perviuran, fins i tot, a la seva etapa mexicana, quan Varo desenvolupi la seva obra més personal i creativa, a través de la creació d’un univers simbòlic propi on conviuen allò fantàstic i allò quotidià, allò esotèric i allò científic.

[eng] Remedios Varo (1908-1963) painted her works between two continents, Europe and America, in one of the most turbulent periods in the History and the Arts as it is the first half of the 20th century. Attracted by the rupturist and innovative spirit of surrealism, Varo incorporated many of the techniques and ideas of the surrealists in her paintings, though she never was part of the kernel of theoreticians and intellectuals, neither in Barcelona nor in Paris. Many of these influences survived in her Mexican period when Varo developed her most personal and creative works, through the creation of her own symbolic universe where fantasy and daily life, that esoteric and that scientist, coexist.
