La terapia mediante estimulación eléctrica como un complemento eficaz a la rehabilitación en las extremidades inferiores en el paciente post accidente cerebrovascular

Abstract

[spa] En la actualidad, la incidencia de pacientes que sufren accidentes cerebrovasculares es alta y esto provoca una preocupación a nivel social y a nivel sanitario por las características de la patología y por las secuelas de la misma. Estas secuelas a menudo son invalidantes y restan funcionalidad a los afectados. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar el nivel de eficacia de la electro estimulación en los pacientes que han sufrido una lesión neurológica a causa de un accidente cerebrovascular. Para ello, se ha realizado una revisión sistemática en la cual se han analizado 17 artículos con diferentes metodologías de estudio de investigación para determinar si este complemento terapéutico es o no una herramienta eficaz para el tratamiento tanto en calidad del resultado como en velocidad del proceso de rehabilitación y recuperación del paciente. Los resultados obtenidos tras el análisis de los documentos son favorables para la utilización de terapias complementarias basadas en la estimulación eléctrica sea cual sea la modalidad. La electro estimulación como complemento terapéutico ayuda en la rehabilitación de los miembros inferiores acelerando el proceso de adaptación a las actividades de la vida diaria, incidiendo sobretodo en la marcha, la fuerza, el equilibrio y la coordinación. Conclusión: Los fisioterapeutas tienen a su disposición una herramienta terapéutica que permite aumentar la mejoría de los pacientes afectados por los accidentes cerebrovasculares. El control de esta técnica puede acelerar notablemente el proceso de adaptación a las AVD, reduciendo la espasticidad, aumentando la fuerza y generando una mayor neuroplasticidad en las zonas afectadas.

[eng] Currently, the incidence of patients suffering strokes is high and this causes a concern at the social level and health level by the characteristics of the pathology and the aftermath of it. These sequels are often invalidating and detract from the functionality of those affected. The objective of this study is to determine the level of effectiveness of electro stimulation in patients who have suffered a neurological injury due to a stroke. For this, a systematic review has been carried out in which 17 articles with different research study methodologies have been analyzed to determine whether or not this therapeutic complement is an effective tool for the treatment both in the quality of the result and in the speed of the process of rehabilitation and recovery of the patient. The results obtained after the analysis of the documents are favorable for the use of complementary therapies based on electrical stimulation whatever the modality. Electro stimulation as a therapeutic complement helps in the rehabilitation of the lower limbs by accelerating the process of adaptation to the activities of daily life, focusing especially on walking, strength, balance and coordination. Conclusion: The physiotherapists have at their disposal a therapeutic tool that allows to increase the improvement of patients affected by cerebrovascular accidents. The control of this technique can notably accelerate the process of adaptation to ADL, reducing spasticity, increasing strength and generating greater neuroplasticity in the affected areas.
