Terapia Asistida con Animales en el paciente oncológico de edad pediátrica

Abstract

[spa] La terapia asistida con animales es un tipo de terapia complementaria innovadora i poco estudiada. Consiste en aprovechar la relación que existe entre los humanos y los animales cómo una parte más del tratamiento del paciente, sacando el máximo beneficio sin poner en riesgo ni a animal ni al paciente. Esta revisión bibliográfica se lleva a cabo con el objetivo de analizar la bibliografía existente sobre la terapia asistida con animales en pacientes oncológicos en edad pediátrica para comprobar si ésta reduce de manera efectiva los efectos secundarios que pueden aparecer durante el tratamiento. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realiza a partir de las bases de datos Pubmed, Cinhal y el catálogo de la UIB. Los resultados obtenidos responden de manera afirmativa a nuestro objetivo. La terapia asistida con animales es beneficiosa a la hora de reducir el impacto de los efectos secundarios del paciente oncológico pediátrico y son pocos los riesgos reales a los que se expone el paciente. Aun así queda mucho por hacer e investigar en este campo y es necesario el compromiso del personal de enfermería para llevar a cabo una terapia asistida con animales de calidad.

[eng] The Animal-Assisted Therapy is an innovative and understudied type of complementary therapy. It is about using the relationship between humans and animals as part of the treatment’s patient taking the maximum benefit and decreasing risks for animals and patients that take part of it. The aim of this literature review is to analyze the existing literature about Animal-Assisted Therapy in oncologycal pediatric patients to verify the possibility of reduce the side effects that may appear during the traditional treatment. The bibliographic search is made from Pubmed, Cinhal and the Catàleg de la UIB. The results shows an affirmatively answer to our objective. Animal-Assisted Thearpy can reduce the impact of side effects in the pediatric cancer patient and there are few secondary effects for this therapy. Although there are a lot of things to do and to investigate in this field and it is necessary to win the commitment of the nursing staff to carry out a quality Animal Assisted Therapy program.
