tròfiques (mixotròfia i heterotròfia) utilitzant tres nivells d’organització distints (cnidaris,
porífers i foraminífers).
foraminífers (1.12‰) i cnidaris (1.77‰) respecte als porífers (8.3‰).
[eng] The symbiotic associations that are formed in marine ecosystems are of great
importance for obtaining nitrogen, especially in oligotrophic conditions such as the
Mediterranean. In this work, we have studied the differences in the acquisition of
nitrogen, evaluating the values of δ 15N, which are established between two trophic
strategies (mixotrophy and heterotrophy) using three different levels of organization
(cnidarians, sponges and foraminifera). The heterotrophic organisms of each group
presented higher values of δ 15N, coinciding with the literature described and
demonstrating that the nitrogen incorporation for both strategies is different. Likewise,
the differences that have been obtained between trophic strategies within the same
group have been much lower for foraminifera (1.12‰) and cnidarians (1.77‰) with
respect to sponges (8.3‰). Also, the differences between groups that follow similar
trophic strategies (cnidarians and sponges) have been superior to the mixotrophic
organisms (3.7‰) than to the heterotrophs (2.9‰). These results show that the
differences with the acquisition of nitrogen are not only due to the trophic strategy, but
also that the nitrogen source of each organism also plays a very important role.
