Incentivos a mentir

Abstract

[spa] Los incentivos son herramientas eficientes para mejorar el rendimiento pero también motivan a los individuos a actuar deshonestamente. El objetivo de esta investigación es averiguar si los incentivos económicos afectan a la conducta deshonesta. Además, veremos si variar el coste moral de mentir tiene efecto sobre la deshonestidad. En este estudio, después de haber revisado investigaciones previas, se realizó un experimento con 261 sujetos para someterlo a un posterior análisis estadístico. Encontramos que hay un claro efecto de crecimiento de la deshonestidad si aplicamos pequeños crecimientos de los incentivos económicos, y una reducción de dicho comportamiento deshonesto cuando es añadido el coste moral.

[eng] Incentives are efficient tools to improve performance but they also motivate individuals to act dishonestly. The objective of this research is to find out if economic incentives affect dishonest behavior. In addition, we will see if varying the moral cost of cheating has an effect in dishonesty. In this work, after reviewing previous investigations, an experiment of 261 subjects was done in order to perform a statistical analysis. We found that there is a clear effect of growing dishonesty with small economic incentives, and a reduction of that dishonest behavior when moral cost is added.
