[eng] Deseccation tolerant plants are able to equilibrate their water content with that of dry air and recover. This strategy is present in lichens, bryophytes, some angiosperms and pteridophytes. While numerous studies have focused on describing the molecular mechanisms of resurrection plants. Few have focused on comparing the anatomy and physiology of non drought tolerance (DS) and drought tolerant (DT) plants. The main objective of this study was to compare the physiology of pteridophytes sensitive and pteridophytes tolerant to desiccation. The results show that resurrection ferns have a higher leaf thickness and higher photosynthesis rates. In addition, it is suggested that DT ferns have typical anatomical characteristics of plants exposed to light. It is proposed that such differences between DT and DS ferns allow the dessecation tolerants to live in environments where water is a limited resource.
