dc.description.abstract [eng] Despite the latest advancements in a great variety of subjects during the last decades, teaching methodologies are still one step behind their counterparts. Cooperative Learning (CL) is an innovative teaching method based on Kurt Lewin’s Interdependence Theory which was then extended by Morton Deutsch (1949) and adapted in the 70s and 80s by several scholars such as D. W. Johnson, Maruyama, R. Johnson, Nelson, and Skon. As many scholars propose today’s society is in need of a less competitive and more cooperative type of teaching. Contemporary professional careers are more and more often in need of individuals with group work and problem-solving skills, however, these skills need to be taught from an early age and, unfortunately, they are not present in traditionally based teaching methodologies. Therefore, this paper aims to present a general view of what CL is and to propose a set of activities for a specific English as a Foreign Language class, in this case, a 1st of ESO class of a Secondary School. The activities proposed are designed as to include a variety of grouping strategies and to provide a scenario where students need to rely on each other to finish their tasks with the purpose of allowing them to feel comfortable and participative, build confidence, and to stablish long lasting bonds with their classmates. ca
