propensos a desarrollar obesidad o síndrome metabólico.
encontrarse diferencias significativas.
[eng] Patients with serious mental disorders have one or more of the netx areas
affected: social, labor and/or personal field. The vast majority of these patients are in
pharmacological treatment which makes them more likely to develop obesity or
metabolic syndrome. This weight gain reduce the mobility of patients by promoting
unhealthy habits, such as sedentary lifestyles.
The objective of this research is to know how many participants with serious
mental disorders present obesity and what kind of pharmacological treatment they
take. Also, to determine how many patients in pharmacological treatment and obesity
present a low score in the questionnaire WHO-DAS II and finally study the relationship
between obesity and low score in the questionnaire WHO-DAS II.
The methodology used is a transversal multifactorial research designed in
patients with severe mental disorder in a socio-sanitary mental health area of a
University Hospital. The sample is a total of 22 patients; 13 men and 9 women; aged
between 35 and 60 years.
Among the variables of BMI, days of entry, numbers of drugs and the 6 scales of
WHO-DAS II, only significant differences have been found in the scale relating to other
people (t = 2,27; p = .034). It has compared BMI and 6 scales of WHO-DAS II, among
patients who take antidepressants (n=15) and people who do not (n=19). No
significant differences have been found.
