Conocer las características de la interacción de los participantes en un curso en red como primer paso entender mejor el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en un entorno virtual

Abstract

[spa] Este Trabajo Fin de Máster tiene dos objetivos principales. En primer lugar, analizar los mensajes que publican los participantes en un curso virtual en los diferentes foros, así como los correos que envían al tutor. Con ello se busca entender mejor lo que sucede en los cursos virtuales en lo que se refiere a la interacción que se produce en ellos, con el objetivo de mejorar los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje que se desarrollan en entornos virtuales de aprendizaje. Para ello se analizan las características de los mensajes que los participantes publican en los foros de discusión prestando atención a la extensión de los mensajes, su adecuación, el tipo de mensaje, su formato, etc. También se pretende comprobar si se leen los mensajes ya publicados y si se responde a los mismos. De igual modo se busca establecer si se percibe el sentimiento de pertenencia al grupo, así como la actitud de los participantes en el curso hacia el trabajo colaborativo, y si este se percibe en el curso virtual. Finalmente, se pretende ver si es posible apreciar diferencias entre la comunicación a través de los foros de dudas y los correos internos que se envían al tutor. Para llevar a cabo este análisis se han creado distintos sistemas de categorías que permiten obtener los datos que proporcionan información en relación a los objetivos específicos en los que se subdivide el primer objetivo general. Por lo que se refiere al segundo objetivo general, y a la vista de los datos obtenidos en el análisis realizado, se intentar establecer cómo dicho análisis puede ayudar a mejorar el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en cursos virtuales.

[eng] This Master’s Dissertation has two main goals. First of all, to analyse the messages posted on the online discussion forums by the participants in an online in-service course, as well as the emails sent to their instructor. Thus, this research study tries to better understand what happens in online courses as regards the interaction that takes place in them. This understanding aims at improving teaching-learning processes developed in virtual learning environments. To do so, the main features of the messages posted on the discussion forums are analysed, paying special attention to their length, their appropriateness, the kind of message, their format, etc. Besides, it is checked whether these participants read the already posted messages and whether they respond to them. Moreover, whether the feeling of group belonging is perceived is tried to be established, as well as the participants’ attitude towards collaborative learning, and whether this is perceived in the online course. Finally, this study endeavours to see whether any differences between communicating via the discussion forums and through the emails sent to the instructor may be identified. In order to carry out this analysis, several systems of categories have been created, which allow obtaining data that provide information as regards the specific objectives that the first general objective has been subdivided into. Concerning the second general objective of this research, and as a result of the data obtained, this study attempts to establish how this analysis may help improve any online teaching-learning process.
